Peking University 2023 New Sinology Program Application Notice for Ph.D. Programs in China
The “New Sinology Program” was established by the Chinese-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education to support foreign students to study and study at the doctoral level in China, and to cultivate young scholars by providing fully funded scholarships with an international academic vision, a good understanding of international academic rules, and the ability to participate in international academic exchanges and research. The Program to Study for a Doctorate in China supports outstanding master graduates from all over the world to study for a doctorate in China under csc. The basic scholarship period is 4 years.

Application Qualifications
- Non-Chinese citizens holding foreign passports. For applicants who are residents of Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan who have immigrated and obtained foreign nationality as foreign students, they should hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certification document before April 30, 2017 , and has a certificate of cancellation of Chinese nationality.
- Be healthy physically and mentally, be friendly to China, and have good conduct. No criminal record.
- Possess a master’s degree awarded by an institution recognized by the Ministry of Education of China (has graduated or is currently graduating).
- Chinese level: Chinese-taught: Chinese proficiency has reached HSK Level 6 with 210 points, of which no less than 65 points in writing.
- English-taught courses: applicants whose native language is not English must submit TOEFL (iBT, above 100 points) or GRE (over 315 points) transcripts or other certificates that can reflect their English proficiency. For specific requirements, please refer to Admission brochures for each English-taught program.

How to apply
Step 1: Apply Online
**(Create an account and upload documents to two websites)
- Log in to the online registration system for international students of Peking University studyatpku.com to register online Admissions code: CSP-PHD
- Online application path: Application-Degree Students-New Sinology Program (PhD Program)
- After the registration is successful, download and print the “Application Form for Foreign Students of Peking University”, and paste photos and signatures
* No application fee is required.
Log on to the website of the New Sinology Program
- http://www.chinese.cn/page/#/pcpage/csp to submit an online application, and print the “Application Form for the New Sinology Program to Study for a Doctoral Degree in China” after successful registration.
**Note: The students applied for in the two websites must be the same.
Step 2: Submit paper materials
*The following materials must be submitted in duplicate, one original and one copy
- “Application Form for Admission of Foreign Students to Peking University” (original copy with signature and photo attached)
- Application Form for the New Sinology Program to Study for a Doctoral Degree in China” (copy)
- Undergraduate degree certificate or graduation certificate (must be original or translated notarized copy in Chinese or English)
- Transcripts during the undergraduate period (must be in Chinese or English original or translated notarized copy)
- Master’s degree certificate or graduation certificate (must be the original or translated notarized copy in Chinese or English)
Note: Fresh graduates must provide proof of expected graduation or proof of school attendance when applying. After they plan to be admitted, they must submit proof of academic qualifications to obtain admission qualifications.
- Transcripts during the master’s period (must be in Chinese or English original or notarized translation)

- Two original letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors (or experts with equivalent professional and technical titles) in the applied field, in Chinese or English. Template download URL:

- The paper version of the recommendation letter (must be the original in Chinese or English);
- Electronic recommendation letter: the recommender sends the recommendation letter directly to ischolarship@pku.edu.cn through his email
Note: If the applicant has contacted the target tutor and received a reply, please be sure to attach the relevant email or letter to the application materials.
- Master’s thesis abstract and other research results

- A copy of the passport, the passport must be a valid ordinary passport
