- • You will use relevant and robust material characterisation and cell performance information to further improve practical understanding of how materials processing, structure and properties correlate with industry-critical cell performance. It is a predominantly laboratory based role and we are looking for a professional who has passion and a high level of commitment, and who can demonstrate urgency and achievement in what they do.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- ○ To propose and lead activities that deliver improvements to our fundamental understanding of silicon anode electrodes
- ○ Designing and conducting experiments to develop improved silicon based anode electrolytes for application in Li-ion batteries (lab based activities > 90% of the role)
- ○ Use relevant and robust material characterisation and cell performance information to analyse the effectiveness of various electrolyte additives and develop new additives for improved cycle efficiency
- ○ Gain better understanding of the intrinsic properties of Nexeon’s anode materials and electrolyte formulations and how they affect electrochemical performance
- ○ To provide scientific excellence - proactive recommendation of designing, and executing research projects, contribution to project meeting discussions and team activities
- ○ Offer input on technical and IP strategies and plans
- ○ Work with process development experts to ensure the structured silicon material produced is of excellent quality and meets customer requirements
- ○ Produce project progress reports as requested to meet project deadlines
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
- ○ PhD with experience in Inorganic chemistry, Lithium-ion battery research, electrolyte development, electrolyte testing with proven experience of working in research and development in high technical industry
- ○ Significant experience with the development and testing of new electrolyte formulations for silicon-based Lithium-ion batteries
- ○ Significant experience in the development and testing of new electrolyte additives for silicon-based Lithium-ion batteries
- ○ Experience working with leaders in the field of Li-ion battery research
- ○ Experience and investigation of process-structure-property relationships
- ○ Material science background
- ○ Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Li-ion battery technology
