Description
The Resident Director is responsible for creating and fostering a residential environment in which all students feel safe, respected, and included. The Director is responsible for leading programming initiatives designed to foster student development, provide support services, and ensure the highest level of residence hall management. The Director will also provide oversight of leadership development for Resident Assistants, and manage student cases as needed. With a focus on creating a positive residential learning environment, the Director will be responsible for developing and coordinating a range of educational and social programs, addressing student concerns and complaints, and monitoring residence hall operations. The Resident Director must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and a variety of stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and mentorRAs to meet the goals of the Leadership Development Program.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive residential curriculum as well as partner with other departments to support thecommunity building,retention, academicsuccess, and spiritual development ofstudents.
- Provide appropriate responses to conduct violations and help residentsdevelop skills to effectively navigate conflict with others, and develop an appreciation fordiversity
- Help residents understand the restorative justice model and understand how they impact others
- Ensure a safe environment and propermaintenance of systems and facilities in residence halls
- Respond to crisis situations is done in accordance with departmental and institutional emergency procedures

- People-oriented, creative, sincere, and depth of Christian faith commitment; firm commitment to LCC's mission
- Understanding of developmental concerns of university-age populations; ability to encourage personal growth in others; ability to initiate relationships and develop rapport with undergraduate students and staff/faculty
- Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills; strong self-motivation and initiative
- Experience with intercultural issues and international student populations and ability to work in a diverse environment
- Ability to creatively innovate, strategize utilizing limited resources and anticipate unintended consequences required; ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal guidance required
Specific Qualifications:
- Degrees:Bachelor’s degree in a related fieldrequired, Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Ministry of Higher Education and Student Developmentpreferred
- Experienceworking in higher education, residence life, and international communities is required;
- Skills: proficiency using technology platforms and database systems required

Work load: full-time, average 40 hours / week, on-call on rotation
